Cecilia 'Cecy' Thatcher-Kelly

Treasurer of the Board, Vice-President, Director of Nursing, Lead Surgical Nurse

Cecy was born in Tijuana, Mexico and has a true passion for the prestigious medical community in the area. After high school, she attended the Red Cross American University Nursing School and followed up with additional training in San Diego at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. Cecy has over 30 years of experience working with patients and physicians in the fields of plastic surgery and bariatric procedures. In fact, she was appointed as a proctor for Intragastric Balloons charged with training physicians all over Mexico in gastric balloon technique. Cecy’s role at the International Metabolic and Bariatric Center is multi faceted. First, she is responsible for consulting with Dr. Kelly on an ongoing basis to ensure that all techniques, instruments, processes and systems are state of the art and of the latest technology. She attends courses and conferences all around the world to understand and introduce any advances into the practice. Next, Cecy assists Dr. Kelly with almost every surgery. She is the point guard for the scrub nurses and other surgeons and takes full accountability to ensure all standards of care are followed to the most minute detail.
